Portland Sampler is my ongoing love letter to a city that I never get tired of discovering.
I will show you how to enjoy Portland like a local. Hidden treasures like stellar food carts and quick eats. Rockin’ thrift shops. Fantastic locally made items. Sumptuous food stores. Drool-worthy homes and jaw-dropping parks. Quirky retail. Farmers’ markets to rival those anywhere. Bookstores and cafes and bakeries and old movie houses. Events and gatherings and getaways to enjoy throughout the year. (And sometimes things just a touch wonky, goofy, or odd –not surprising considering “Keep Portland weird” is a motto in town).
I will also invite you into my Portland home. My kitchen is a happy place, full of constant motion, good eats, and a place I prepare treats for family, friends, and seniors on my Meals on Wheels route. I like creating new recipes, but I also love pulling out a cookbook, trying out something new or introducing others to recipes that I have been using happily for years. The rest of my house is where I repurpose and enjoy vintage items I have amassed — and you’ll see a bit of that, too.
So, that’s Portland Sampler. A bushel of things to chow down on. And gobs of places to take your family, your two- and four-legged friends — or just to enjoy on your own. Tasty little bites of everything that makes this city so enjoyable.
